Welcome to Cademuir Photography!
Thank you for stopping by. My name is Kim McDonald, and I am the creative mind and lens behind Cademuir Photography (going to be honest here, AI helped me come up with that, creative mind and lens... ahahaha). The name Cademuir comes from the name of the house I grew up in, near Glasgow in Scotland. I pronounce it "cade" as in "made" and "muir" as in "pure", but say it as you like.
I started Cademuir Photography in 2013 whilst working full time as a Medical Physicist. I have an MSci in Biophysics and a MSc in Medical Physics amongst a few other random things such as a power boat and a VHF radio licence! Yes, this does sound like some odd qualifications for a photographer... but it's good to do a variety of things, right?! I used X-Rays a lot when in the MedPhys job meaning I have worked with images of the inside of bodies and of the outside. Hey, I like photons!!! Okay, geekiness over, message me if you want to chat about that.
I am originally from Scotland and you may see a sprinkling of Scottish photos around my website but I am currently based in the stunningly beautiful Cascais and Sintra area of Portugal and I offer natural family and lifestyle photography.
We are spoiled for choice in this little pocket of Portugal, from the sun-kissed beaches and rocky coastlines, to lush forests and lakes, not to mention the cobbled streets and historic architecture. There are inspiring backdrops everywhere. And that light.... aaahhh! Dreamy! But it's not really about the setting, it's about freezing a little moment in time of you and your favourite people.
With a relaxed and easygoing approach, I aim to create authentic images. I have been the photographer for many weddings and lifestyle shoots in Scotland since 2013 which I loved but I am stepping back from weddings for now and focusing on families. Most families I know (including mine) are busy busy busy all of the time and sometimes you just don't stop to capture those precious memories. If this is you, then you are in the right place.
I would be delighted to help you so if you are ready, please get in touch here.
